Miyajidake Jinja Shrine Packed with J-Pop Fans

Miyajidake Jinja Shrine is becoming crowded with J-pop fans! Every year, Miyajidake Jinja Shrine (located in Fukutsu, Fukuoka) celebrates the Sunset Festival; a natural phenomenon creates a beautiful sunset which can only be seen from the shrine in February and October. But this year, Arashi, a popular idol boy band, filmed a commercial for JAL where they watch the famous sunset on the long flight of steps leading up to the shrine. Since Feb. 21, when news of the commercial was somehow leaked, the shrine steps have been packed with Arashi-fans who “want to see the same sunset Arashi did.” The large influx of J-pop fans means that, to avoid potential hazards created by overcrowding, the shrine has had to issue a limited number of tickets for each sunset.
