New Tourist Information Center to Open in Dekimachi Park

Fukuoka City will open a tourist information center that makes use of IoT technology in Dekimachi Park as part of the Hakata Old Town redevelopment project. Visitors will be able to use the large touch panel screens to find out information and make reservations at local eateries. The new facility, which will open in April 2019, will also feature a cafe and a seating area. There are also plans to make multilingual tablets offering tourist information, and establish two special walking courses around the Hakata area. Fukuoka City Mayor Soichiro Takashima announced on April 17 that he hopes that the project will provide both tourists and residents the chance to learn more about the local area.
