Kitakyushu City announced details about the construction work planned for the Hibikinada offshore wind farm. Sections of windmills will be assembled and specially designed breakwaters will also be built. The Wakamatsu-ku based farm is scheduled to be completed in 2021, becoming one of the first offshore sites in Asia to specialize in wind-based power generation. The city has already held advanced talks with businesses that specialize in manufacturing windmills and maintenance work, but negotiations with construction companies are at an earlier stage.
