SoftBank Hawks Lose Out on the Top Spot, But…

After an extremely close run series, The Softbank Hawks saw their two year tenure at the top of the Pacific League come to an end on Wednesday as the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters won the league championship for the first time in four years. The Hawks ended in second place after the Fighters won their game against the Saitama Seibu Lions. Though the Hawks didn’t clinch the league title, they still have a chance to win the Climax Series (CS) which begins now that the regular season has ended. Their first game will be against the Chiba Lotte Marines on Oct. 8 who finished in third place in the Pacific League. The winner of the CS then plays a series of 6 games against the Ham beginning on Oct. 12. The winner of that earns the chance to play in the Nippon Series. Shopping centers across Fukuoka will be having sales to cheer on the Hawks, including: Canal City Hakata, Solaria Plaza, Tenjin Core and Daimaru Fukuoka Tenjin. A full list can be seen here.
