Disaster Prevention Manual Provided for Apartment Buildings

Apartment blocks, condominium buildings, and residential complexes make up approximately 80% of the accommodation in Fukuoka City. This percentage is higher than almost anywhere in the whole of Japan. Some of these properties are densely packed along the Kego fault line that runs through the center of the city. Measures are being taken to prepare residents based in these areas for any natural disasters that might occur. The city has put together a manual that lays out how people should prepare and respond to any possible incident to minimize disaster effects. Some of the advice featured is based on the testimonies of people who experienced the 2016 Kumamoto earthquakes and other similar events. Source: Fukuoka City Website, 1/30/2018
