The Fukuoka Prefectural Assembly has passed an ordinance to prevent harassment of assembly members and candidates. The ordinance provides consultation services at the prefectural assembly office to investigate harassment, including power harassment and sexual harassment, with lawyers with expertise in the field serving as consultants. The ordinance will be fully enforced from April 1 next year. According to the Prefectural Assembly Secretariat, this is the first time in Japan that a prefectural assembly has enacted an ordinance to prevent harassment against assembly members. Source: NHK
