Fukuoka-Based Reference to Equip All Rental Properties with EV Charging Stations

Reference, a real estate company in Fukuoka, plans to install electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at all its rental properties to attract eco-conscious tenants and enhance property appeal. The firm, which owns about 130 buildings with 1,300 parking spaces, will phase in the installation, starting with 300 spaces. They have partnered with Ubiden, Inc. for their EV charging service, offering economical rates. This initiative aligns with Japan’s 2035 goal for electric vehicle adoption and comes as Reference also undertakes property renovations. By leveraging substantial national and municipal subsidies, Reference aims to cover up to 90% of the installation costs, setting a potential national precedent in rental property enhancements for EV compatibility.
