Munakata City Launches First Sick Child Pickup Service in Fukuoka Prefecture

Starting May 10, Munakata City has introduced a pioneering service in Fukuoka Prefecture where nurses and childcare workers pick up sick children from nurseries and kindergartens on behalf of parents who cannot leave work. The service, called “Sick Childcare Pickup,” charges 1,000 yen per use and is available to households with preschool children attending local institutions. This initiative addresses the needs of dual-income families who work outside the city, allowing parents more flexibility and ensuring children receive timely medical care.
