The monthly Nagahama Fish Market Citizens’ Appreciation Day returns in April with a wide selection of fresh seafood from fishing grounds around Kyushu. Normally closed to the public, the market opens its doors for this event, drawing large crowds eager to shop for fresh seafood and processed products at discounted prices. Highlights include professional fish-filleting demonstrations, hands-on filleting experiences, a live tuna-cutting show using a specialized oversized knife followed by immediate sales, a sushi-making workshop for children, and a rock-paper-scissors game where winners receive giveaways (starting at 11:00). Arriving early is recommended.
