Kitakyushu City announced that the redevelopment of Tanga Market in Kokurakita Ward will be delayed by three years, with completion now expected at the end of FY2030. The delay stems from the need to prioritize safety during demolition work along the Kantake River, which must be carried out mostly by hand. Rising material costs have also pushed the project budget up by ¥1 billion, to around ¥5.7 billion. Originally planned for completion in FY2027, the project has been under way since before the two large fires that struck the market three years ago. Source: NHK
