Experience authentic Ukrainian culture through its most iconic dish — borsch, a vibrant beet soup recognized by UNESCO as an element of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
At this student-led booth “Borsch?”, organized by a Japanese-Ukrainian team from Kyushu University, visitors can enjoy traditional Ukrainian borsch prepared with locally grown beets from Karatsu’s Yokomakura Farm in Saga Prefecture. They aim to share not just the taste, but the story and meaning behind Ukraine’s national dish — a symbol of home, resilience, and community.
Alongside the food, visitors can learn about Ukrainian culinary culture, regional variations of borsch, and the agricultural collaboration between Fukuoka and Ukrainian producers.
