An old hand grenade was discovered on October 28 at a vacant house demolition site in Jinyama, Yahatanishi Ward, Kitakyushu. Workers reported the object, about 10 cm long and 5 cm in diameter, to police around 2:30 p.m. after finding it in a rusty condition. A police bomb disposal unit responded, and the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force later confirmed it as a World War II–era grenade. The device was safely collected around 7:30 p.m., and nearby road restrictions were lifted. The site is located about 1.4 kilometers west of JR Yahata Station in a mixed residential and commercial area. JR officials said train services were unaffected throughout the operation. Source: KBC
