Power-Meter Tampering Arrests

Police arrested two men on suspicion of obstructing business by fraudulent means after they allegedly installed devices that prevented normal power-meter readings at a confectionery shop in Saga City. The suspects, an American company executive using the name “Rayne Sho” and a Japanese associate, reportedly promoted an “Energy Save” device as a way to cut electricity costs and attached it to two meters between October 2023 and October 2024. A related power company discovered the unauthorized components and notified authorities. Police are investigating the involvement of additional accomplices and believe similar installations occurred in other regions. Officials have not disclosed whether the suspects admitted the allegations. Source: KBC
