Automobile exports from the Kyushu economic region to the United States increased 67% year on year in November to ¥90.6 billion, ending an eight-month decline, according to preliminary data released by Moji Customs on December 17. Export volumes rose about 70% to an estimated 21,000 vehicles. The recovery followed a sharp drop a year earlier and came after the U.S. reduced additional auto tariffs in September to a combined rate of 15%. By port, exports rose 21% at Kanda Port in Fukuoka Prefecture and more than tripled at Hofu Port in Yamaguchi. Overall exports from the Kyushu region increased 1% to ¥1.04 trillion, while imports fell 4%, resulting in a trade surplus for the tenth consecutive month. Source: Moji Customs
