Two sake producers from Fukuoka Prefecture won top honors at a Japanese sake competition held in Paris and reported their achievements to Governor Seitaro Hattori on December 18. Kitaya of Yame received the judges’ highest award in the sparkling sake category for its Kitaya Sparkling Awasake, while Shinozaki of Asakura won the top prize in the prestige koji spirits category for its liqueur Asakura. The competition, held in May, evaluated Japanese alcoholic beverages from across the country. Representatives of both breweries said the recognition highlighted the quality of Fukuoka’s brewing industry. Governor Hattori said he hoped the awards would help further promote Fukuoka’s local alcohol overseas. Source: Association de Kura Master
