Man Arrested Over Laser Incident on Trains

Police in Kitakyushu arrested a 52-year-old company employee on suspicion of obstructing business operations by shining a laser at moving trains. Authorities allege that on the night of December 22, the suspect directed a laser from near a railroad crossing at JR Kurosaki Station toward the driver’s cabins of a local and a freight train. The freight train made an emergency stop and was halted for about six minutes after the driver reported sensing danger. Surveillance footage helped identify the suspect, and a laser pointer believed to have been used was seized from his home. The suspect has denied the allegations, police said.
