“No Angry Coaches” Tournament Held

A youth basketball tournament in Fukuoka introduced a rule prohibiting coaches from scolding players during games in an effort to encourage positive communication and reduce pressure on children. The event, held at Fukuoka City General Gymnasium, featured 10 teams from across the prefecture and was organized by former Japan volleyball player Naomi Masuko. Coaches were instructed not to react negatively to mistakes, which organizers described as part of learning and taking on challenges. Masuko said the initiative was inspired by her own experience of harsh coaching during her playing career. Participants and parents said the atmosphere became more positive, with players appearing more relaxed and willing to try new plays. Source: TVQ News / Fukuoka City Sports Association
