MoonStar, the Kurume-based footwear manufacturer known for its school shoes, has expanded its premium leather lineup with the release of the women’s model “SL Mizuhiki” in February 2026. Produced at the company’s Saga factory, the shoe uses leather sourced from Saga Prefecture cattle, including Saga Beef, one of Japan’s best-known wagyu brands. The model is the latest addition to MoonStar’s Slow Factory series, launched in 2019 and built through labor-intensive craftsmanship. Source: Nikkei / MoonStar
