Fukuoka City announced that municipal tax revenue for fiscal 2025 is expected to reach a record ¥417.3 billion, surpassing ¥400 billion for the first time and marking a fourth consecutive annual high. Mayor Soichiro Takashima said revenue would increase by about ¥Y33.5 billion from the previous year, driven by population growth, higher resident tax receipts, rising land values, and increased property and city planning taxes linked to condominium development. Takashima noted that annual tax revenue has grown from the ¥260 billion range when he took office in 2010, representing a 1.6-fold increase over 15 years. The city plans to use the additional revenue to enhance services, including support for older residents and people with disabilities. Source: FBS News / Nishinippon Shimbun
