Fukuoka City plans to begin introducing six-car trains on the Nanakuma subway line from fiscal 2030 to ease crowding. The line between Hakata and Hashimoto currently uses four-car trains and is particularly congested during commuting hours. Beginning next fiscal year, planning will cover specifications for the additional cars and designs for station modifications. Two cars would be added to existing trainsets, while unused sections at the ends of station platforms would be converted for passenger use.
