Nissan announced on Sep. 10 that it will move Serena and Elgrand minivan production from its Fukuoka factories to Tochigi. The transfer from Nissan Motor Kyushu and Nissan Shatai Kyushu is to be completed within a few years. The company aims to raise utilization at Tochigi, where slowing global electric-vehicle demand has left capacity underused. Nissan Motor Kyushu remains highly utilized and is set to take over production of models including the Note after Oppama ends production at the close of fiscal 2027.
