Kagoshima Prefecture launched a trial program on September 18 offering eligible overseas visitors the equivalent of a one-way Kyushu Shinkansen fare from Hakata Station to three stations in the prefecture. The initiative aims to attract travelers arriving at Fukuoka Airport to Kagoshima. Visitors from eight countries and regions, including the United States, South Korea, China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, can receive up to 11,420 yen when booking at least one night at a Kagoshima hotel through travel platform Klook. The prefecture allocated 278 million yen for the program, which will continue until the budget limit is reached or the end of February 2027.
