Two more contenders outline plans for Fukuoka mayoral election

Former Fukuoka city assembly member Hideki Abe, 31, announced his candidacy for mayor on Sep. 17. A former anesthesiologist, he was first elected to the assembly in 2023 and resigned on Sep. 16. NPO representative Kanta Nagasawa, 33, also held a news conference and said he would run if certain conditions were met. Nagasawa, whose organization works on forest conservation, proposed creating places in each ward where people and nature coexist and daily life can continue during disasters. Seven people have now held candidacy news conferences, with the official campaign opening Nov. 1 and voting set for Nov. 15. Source: FBS News / TVQ News
