Kikuji Temple in Itoshima hosts a market bringing together 16 vendors offering food, everyday goods, and personal care. Its theme is “meguri”—the passing of goods, ideas, and goodwill from one person to another—with opportunities to meet the makers and learn about the stories behind their work.
Offerings include Itoshima-made jams and raw honey, baked treats made with rice flour and koji, and vegan sweets. A wild herb tea bar blends teas on the spot using herbs traditionally used in medicinal cooking. Visitors can also exchange books with personal memories attached, discover brush calligraphy, or try Ayurvedic head care. The temple setting invites visitors to slow down, talk with those taking part, and enjoy time beyond shopping.
The market continues its support for animal rescue initiatives and will also raise funds for relief following the 2026 Kumamoto earthquake. Passing on what one has received is part of the small cycle of giving at the heart of the event.
