Kyushu University emeritus professor Junji Inanaga welcomed the Nobel chemistry prize announced for Kenso Soai and Henri Kagan on Oct. 7. Inanaga invited Soai to serve as a visiting professor at Kyushu University in 2005. He recalled introducing Soai’s work at the time as research that could one day win a Nobel Prize. Inanaga also knows Kagan, an emeritus professor at Paris-Saclay University, and said they had visited each other’s homes. He said recognition for fundamental research offered young scientists an example of the value of pursuing basic questions. Source: NHK News / TVQ News
