Fukuoka Prefecture will expand its second-choice admissions system from 28 schools to all 90 full-time prefectural high schools for 2027 entry. Applicants can name a second-choice school when applying for the general entrance examination. Those unsuccessful at their first choice can be considered for vacancies at their second choice without taking another exam. The education board says the change will make prefectural schools easier to apply to, after 59 schools fell short of their intake targets this year, 15 more than the previous year. Applications open on Feb. 10, 2027, and the examination will be held on March 9. Source: FBS News / Fukuoka Prefecture
