Fukuoka plans electronic voting for next spring’s assembly election

Fukuoka Prefecture plans to submit an ordinance in December to allow electronic voting in next spring’s prefectural assembly election. Voters would select candidates on tablets or similar devices at polling stations. Only the six municipalities that already have enabling ordinances are expected to be ready for the election, provisionally scheduled for April 11, 2027. Kasuya used electronic voting in its August mayoral election, completing the count in about 25 minutes without major problems. Governor Seitaro Hattori said the system could reduce administrative work and speed up counting. Source: NHK News / FBS News
