Researchers announced new findings on Oct. 28 from the third Mongol-invasion shipwreck discovered off Takashima in Matsuura, Nagasaki Prefecture. The surviving structure measures about 15 meters, suggesting the original vessel was roughly 30 meters long and among the largest found there. Dice and gaming tiles possibly connected to a predecessor of mahjong were discovered for the first time at the site. Fish bones and a knife also offered clues to food preparation aboard the ship. The investigation included participation from South Korea and Mongolia, with further excavation planned for 2027. Source: RKB News / KTN News
