Kyudai Move To Ito To Finish One Year Earlier

Kyushu University will complete the relocation of facilities on its aging Hakozaki Campus (Higashi Ward) to Ito Campus (Nishi Ward) in fiscal 2018, one year earlier than planned. The move was announced at the Jan. 28 meeting of the Hakozaki Campus Site Usage Committee. The move was scheduled to conclude in 2019 with the relocation of the Faculty of Agriculture, but the timing was adjusted after a university request for budget funds was approved by the national government. The Committee has already agreed to sell off parts of the sites formerly occupied by the engineering and literature schools, which have already moved to Ito. It has also come to a consensus on a basic plan to begin using the old campus, which will be broken into six different zones, by 2024. Source: Nishinippon Shimbun 1/29
