Over one million people visit this annual festival in Arita, a town renowned for ceramics and porcelain known as Arita yaki. Some 450 stalls and shops line the streets between Kami-arita and Arita stations, selling discounted items. Line up at 6 am for okayu (¥500) and receive a Year of the Boar ceramic bowl! This is the first in-person event in three years. The entire Arita area will be bustling with activity, including Arita Sera, the world’s largest Arita porcelain shopping area, located a short distance away from the main street, with approximately 2,000 tsubo of land lined with stores specializing in porcelain. A café has been set up on Tombai Fence Street, and omusubi (rice balls, limited to 300 for ¥500 each morning) are sold in front of the Aritakan from 6:00 am.
