A unique opportunity to hear renowned Swedish glass and ceramics designer Ingegerd Råman host a lecture and exchange session in the town of Arita, Saga. Defined by its acclaim and longevity, Råman has built a career creating unassuming yet heartfelt objects that truly resonate and come to life in the hands of the user. Råman has designed for several important Scandinavian and international manufacturers and is exhibited in leading museums worldwide. She is currently engaged in the 2016/ project, carried out by Saga Prefecture as part of the Arita Porcelain 400th Anniversary Project. 2016/ is a ground-breaking collaboration of international design talent and the traditional craftsmanship of potteries in the Arita region.
Råman will give a lecture covering her opinions on design, involvement in the 2016/ project and the potential to revitalise the fortunes of Arita-ware and the town itself. The talk will be chaired by Teruhiro Yanagihara, Creative Director of the 2016/ project. Following the lecture, Ingegerd Råman will be free to meet guests at an informal exchange opportunity. A night tour of The Kyushu Ceramic Museum will round off the day’s events.
