Amakusa, Kumamoto, is famous for both its pottery and pottery stone (Amakusa pottery stone accounts for 80% of Japan’s pottery stone). Eight potters will exhibit their works, focusing on sakanbachi (a big plate, usually used to serve sashimi) and teshiozara (a small, shallow plate used for salt or pickles). Visitors can even buy a plate to take home. So make your next meal a treat for the eyes as well as the tastebuds, by picking up a plate at this exhibition!
