Ashiya Sand Craft Exhibition 2026

26 sand sculptures fill a seaside venue in Ashiya, a coastal town in northern Fukuoka Prefecture, for this annual event. Sculptors from Japan and overseas create the works using only white sand and water. Visitors can get a close look at the intricate details of these large-scale creations.
This year’s theme is “Beyond Time and Space: A Journey Around the World—A Soccer Kingdom Made of Sand.” After sunset, illumination gives the sculptures a different character. Sound and light shows take place at 19:00 and 20:00 on weekdays. On weekends and public holidays, fireworks follow the 20:00 show, adding to the nighttime spectacle.
