In the Chikugo region of Fukuoka, Kurume Kasuri, a cotton textile that has been passed down for over 200 years, is produced. In Chikugo City, where Kurume Kasuri workshops are scattered, there is an annual event where these workshops open to the public. Visitors can tour the workshops, experience indigo dyeing, and purchase Kasuri fabrics and scraps. The tranquil area, surrounded by rural landscapes, is conveniently accessible by free shuttle buses and rental bicycles. At the Kumano Community Center, the event headquarters, you can enjoy light meals made with local ingredients and purchase Kasuri and other local specialties. Rental bicycles (¥500 for 3 hours) are also available here.
