For a special Christmas Eve event consider attending a performance of Soraya Jayne’s International Ballet School with the entire family. The show is suitable for children over three years old. The opening program will be a bright, Spanish style ballet called Paquita with school head teacher Kana Moritsuka in the female lead role and Australian professional dancer Andrew Elphinston in the male lead role. The pas de trois will be performed by professional dancer Shinji Kajita and two of the school’s former students, who are currently studying abroad. The second act, The Fairy Doll, is a colorful ballet of pretty dolls danced by the younger students of the school. The performance will finish on a Christmas note with the premiere of Masquerade. There will also be a guest appearance by Dutch professional dancer Frank von Tongeren, who will be performing his own choreography to the tune of Gershwin. The school was established 22 years ago by British ex-ballerina Soraya Jayne Matsuda and is currently serving both the international and Japanese community in the Ohori area. Expect some stunning dancing and beautiful stage settings!
