Craft Marche

START: Jul 28, 2023 END: Jul 30, 2023

ACROS Fukuoka is set to host Craft Marche, a grand showcase featuring over 1000 pieces of Japanese craftwork and 13 artisans and authors. This event offers an exceptional chance for attendees to explore and appreciate the richness of Japanese crafts. Engaging live demonstrations and interactive experiences, mentored directly by the artisans themselves, will be open to all, with no prior reservations necessary.

Attendees will be able to witness and purchase a wide array of items including Hakata-ori textiles, Kurume Kasuri, pottery, and Kumiko latticework. The event emphasizes experiencing traditional culture, offering 17 different hands-on activities and live demonstrations. These experiences range from creating a kaleidoscope with Hakata-ori, painting Hakata dolls, a pottery wheel experience with Koishiwara-yaki, hand-weaving with Rush grass, and a unique tea ceremony using Takatori-yaki ware.

Adding to the richness of the showcase, the Crafts Marche will present a collection themed around the blue color of the World Aquatic Championships emblem and the indigo color, long symbolic of Japan. This collection includes blue pottery and woven items. A live loom weaving demonstration of Kurume Kasuri will also be a part of this showcase.
