Nagahama Fish Market’s Citizen Appreciation Day is held on the second Saturday of each month. Normally closed to the public, the market opens its doors for the sale and tasting of fresh seafood and processed products. Visitors can also enjoy hands-on events such as the “Fish Filleting Experience,” where they can watch professional fishmongers skillfully prepare the fish. A highlight of the event is the bluefin tuna cutting show, followed by an immediate sale of the tuna. The fresh fish sales are extremely popular, so it’s first-come, first-served!
