Focus on Asia International Film Festival Fukuoka 2014

A flashy red-carpet opening ceremony kicks off the 24th edition of this yearly film festival in which 39 films from 18 Asian countries and regions are screened over ten days. This year’s festival shines a spotlight on Taiwanese films, and includes 7 films about ukiyoe artists.

Fukuoka Now is giving away 10 pairs of tickets to the Focus on Asia International Film Festival 2014. The main program features a variety of Asian motion pictures from eighteen countries and regions, including Iranian films “Fish & Cat” and “The Painting Pool”, Lou Ye’s “Blind Massage”, Brilliant Mendoza’s “Possession”, Riri Riza’s “The Jungle School” and Zhang Lu’s “Gyeongju”. The special Feature Program “Taiwan Film Renaissance 2014” includes eight Taiwanese films. The festival features a symposium with directors and film critics, discussions with directors, special features, competitions, and more. It is held as part of Fukuoka Asian Party (formerly Fukuoka Asian Month) which brings together various Asian cultural, academic and art events and attractions in Fukuoka every September.
