Fukuoka Genesis: A New Nakoku Exhibition

START: Oct 17, 2015 END: Dec 13, 2015

2,000 years ago, the kingdom of Nakoku was thriving in the center of an area now known as Fukuoka. It was a highly advanced society, and is considered representative of the Yayoi period (a time when people started to run agricultural communities). At this exhibition, bronzeware and pottery of Nakoku will be displayed, and used to demonstrate the culture and technology of the time. The collection includes the Gold Seal, which was found on Shikanoshima Island, and has since been named a National Treasure of Japan: the seal is significant because it is proof that the Chinese emperor (of the Late Han Dynasty) recognized the king of Nakoku. Learn how Japan took its first baby steps into becoming the amazing country it is today, right here in Fukuoka.
