This festival is held to honor those involved in the 18th century historical incident known as the Revenge of the Forty-seven Ronin. A tea offering to the gods will be held in front of the graves. There will also be a Chikuzen biwa (Japanese lute and designated Intangible Cultural Property of Fukuoka) performance as well as a gun salute using historic rifles. You can also try soba, which was the meal of the 47 samurai before they committed their raid.
