This year marks the 15th anniversary of a film festival dedicated to showcasing independent films from both Japan and abroad. With the goal of promoting interaction and development among creators, the festival will feature a selection of 32 films. These will include invited works from both domestic and international filmmakers, highly-ranked entries from last year’s competition, selected independent films, and retrospective pieces to commemorate the 15th anniversary.
Among the highlights will be a documentary following the mysterious annual phenomenon of frogs climbing to the summit of Mt. Hōman in Dazaifu, as well as the directorial debut ‘Death Mask,’ slated for a nationwide release next spring. Actor Yuichi Nakamura has commented on the latter, stating that he was able to create it ‘without a single regret.’
The festival will also offer guest talks after some screenings, providing a unique opportunity to enjoy the true essence of a film festival. Come and experience the creativity and inspiration that this celebration of cinema has to offer.
