Fukuoka, a city with a vibrant musical spirit, comes alive every weekend this September with festivals across the city. The season kicks off with BAYFES at Bayside Place, followed by the popular NAKASU JAZZ, and the colorful, international open-air festival Isla de Salsa on Nokonoshima Island. Then there’s Sing! Hakata, where citizens take the stage to perform gospel, a cappella, and choral music. Wrapping it all up is MUSIC CITY TENJIN, with live performances throughout the Tenjin area, centered around the plaza west of City Hall.
This year, Fukuoka teams up with Spotify, releasing curated playlists featuring songs performed at each festival, along with tracks from artists representing Fukuoka’s unique sound. Discover the rhythm of the city—one weekend at a time.
