Tsukimi (literally moon-viewing) refers to Japanese festivals honoring the autumn moon. This Sunday you can enjoy “Kangetsu Sai” (moon watching festival) at Sansha Jinjya Gegu Ato Shrine. On the mountain, under the beautiful autumn moonlight, watch traditional Kagura (sacred dances) “Misaki”, “Daijya Taiji” and “Iwado Hiraki”, and music performances too! The shrine is a site of Shugendo, a sect of Esoteric Buddhism, and is the perfect place to enjoy the Autumn’s full moon in a very traditional way, surrounded by fire torches and bamboo lanterns!
