Gourmet Food and Sake Brewery Tour in Munakata

START: Jul 1, 2016 END: Jul 8, 2016

Get a taste of Munakata! Enjoy a tour and tasting at two leading local sake breweries in Munakata, Izu Honten and Katsuya Sake Brewery. Learn lots of fun facts about sake, see how it’s made, and take home a bottle of sake from each brewery. Katsuya Sake Brewery is well-known for producing nationally acclaimed sake. When Japanese prime ministers visit Munakata Taisha (a collection of three famous Shinto shrines) they taste this sake, sign their names, and write “kokushu” on a card. These sign boards are displayed inside Katsuya Sake Brewery. You will also visit Munakata Taisha, which is nominated for inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2017. You will also journey to seven foodie locations in the Munakata area; a region that boasts fresh seafood from the nearby ocean and fruit and vegetables from its mountains. At each spot you’ll enjoy a gourmet dish (all of which pair well with your new sake!), but why not also buy some tasty, unique souvenirs to take home? But make sure to save some room! The tour finishes at organic restaurant Budou no Ki, where guests will enjoy their original white wine (from their vineyard in Germany) and a platter of homemade, organic hors d’oeuvres, including ham and sausages. Kanpai! English-speaking staff available.
