An art event is now being held throughout the entire Hakata Hankyu building. The main event is the “Art Fair Asia Fukuoka,” a contemporary art festival. Some of the artwork will be available for purchase, something usually not possible at an art museum.

More than 600 works by 54 artists from Japan and abroad with ties to Kyushu will be exhibited and sold.

SNS – Share Next Stage – Uzo Hiramatsu and the Artists of the World He Admires
Uzo Hiramatsu is an artist living in Fukuoka, Japan who is mainly active in holding solo exhibitions at Zen temples. In 2019, he was introduced by VOGUE Hong Kong edition as one of the “7 artists you should follow on Instagram now”, and in 2021, he was invited to SHOWstudio, a showcase that influences creators around the world. Currently, he has 55,000 followers, and the works of 19 artists from various countries connected with him will be exhibited and sold.

The Kyushu School, a group that stands out from the rest.
The avant-garde art movement took place in various parts of Japan around 1960. The Kyushu School, based in Fukuoka, was a group of avant-garde artists who took a strong anti-public exhibition and anti-Tokyo stance by using everyday items. The works of the nine members, who have taken on various challenges from then to now, will be exhibited and sold.

Award-winning works from the Fukuoka City “FUKUOKA WALL ART PROJECT,” an open competition held with the aim of creating a lively city through the activities of artists and art, will be on display and for sale.

“ART FAIR ASIA FUKUOKA”, Kyushu’s leading contemporary art festival, will be held for the sixth time. More than 1,500 works by more than 150 artists from 45 galleries across Japan will be exhibited and sold. This is the first time the event will be held at Hakata Hankyu.
