The Hakata Daimaru Natsu Matsuri (Summer Festival), which will be held in the build-up to and during Obon, welcomes back Fukuoka natives who are returning to the area for the holidays. A wooden stage for the Bon festival dances will be open to guests who want to join in. Visitors can treat themselves to traditional food such as yakisoba, or a kakigori if they want to cool down from the heat. Original dishes will also be available at a food stand called Dragon Burger, to be overseen by Adam Lawson whose food has been recognized at international competitions. A craft fair featuring locally manufactured goods will also be there. On Aug. 10 hair styling service for only ¥500 will be offered to people who turn up in a yukata, while the first 50 people to arrive will receive a ¥500 coupon!
