At this market, which occurs monthly from May to October, food producers from across Kyushu sell fresh produce. The event is hosted by Gurunavi, JR Kyushu and JR Hakata City, and over 33 farms participate over three days. To celebrate the first market of the season, the first 500 to spend over ¥500 on each day will receive vegetable seeds from Kyushu. There will not only be booths selling fresh produce, but foods made from this produce, including fugu (blowfish) tempura and octopus and vegetable pasta. Enjoy barbecued vegetable skewers (the vegetables come from seven different farms), or vote for the most attractive vegetable display at the “Morimori Contest” (moru means “to pile up”). Since the way to a Fukuokan’s heart is through his or her stomach, the event aims to inject a shot of “genki” (liveliness) into the city through good food!
