Hakata Mochitsuki

Before WWII, people in Hakata made mochi (sticky rice) cakes in the new year to the sound of the shamisen and taiko drums, and this tradition re-emerged in 1996. On the day of the event, red and white rice cakes will be distributed to 100 people who enter the Hakata Machiya Furusatokan. Mochitsuki is limited to watching this year.
