Hasami ware, popular for its simple, modern design and everyday usability, is distinguished by a community-based production style in which the entire town takes part in making each piece. This annual spring pottery festival, held in Hasami Town—one of the main production centers of Hasami ware—takes place at Yakimono Park.
Around 150 exhibitors, including manufacturers and kilns, set up stalls, offering a wide variety of ceramics at production-area prices, from practical tableware for daily use to traditional pieces. Workshops such as wheel throwing, slip casting, and painting are also available. From the nearest JR Arita Station, a shuttle bus runs to the venue every 30 minutes from 8:30 (¥500; unlimited rides for one day with a pass, free for high school students and younger).
