The Pizza Festival unites Italy and Fukuoka through a shared love of celebration and fresh, natural ingredients. Under the direction of owner Tomohide Shitama of Pizzeria Da Gaetano—which carries on the tradition of a historic pizzeria from Ischia Island, the birthplace of pizza—some of Japan’s top pizzaioli will gather to bake authentic Neapolitan pizzas in Italian wood-fired ovens using ingredients imported from Naples. Five types will be available, including Margherita, Quattro Formaggi, and Montanara (fried pizza), priced ¥1,500–¥2,500. Eight popular Italian restaurants from Fukuoka will also serve food, along with Italian wine and draft beer.
A hands-on “Pizzeria Experience” for elementary school children will be held Oct. 18–19 from 15:30 to 16:30 (same-day registration from 15:00 / ¥3,000 / limited to 10 participants per day).
